Formspring.me? Say No!

Send and receive anonymous questions, and learn more about people you find interesting by following their answers.

People who used MySpace previously will recognise the Formspring-style system.

In theory it sounds fun, and seems like a good idea but when looked at in some more detail the whole idea seems rather dubious.

Would you take candy from a stranger in real life? Would you answer a question asked by a complete and utter stranger?

What most people don’t realise is that this site is a wonderful gateway to the paedophile in today’s society. I believe common sense has gone out the window when most people use this site; especially with girls!

I want to ridicule the owner/owners of this site for making it so simple to link the account in with Facebook and Twitter and for people under the age of 18 to use this site.

Disgraceful!

Update 1: After having looked at the T&C’s of Formspring.me (http://www.formspring.me/site/terms) they make it very clear that they are definitely not responsible or liable for anything that is asked or actioned by the user.

By using the formspring.me service you agree to be bound by the following Terms and Conditions. formspring.me reserves the right to change these Terms and Conditions at any time without notice, and your continued use of formspring.me constitutes your consent to such changes.

Update 2: I forgot to mention, that so many people use this site to give them the opportunity to hide behind a mask, a hidden identity to bring down the morale of so many users.

I have found on several occasions that people are so frightened to speak to you in person or to even call you and are cowardly enough to use services such as Formspring.me to upset and hurt.

Facebook is not Twitter – do not get confused!

Earlier on in the year I undertook an interesting but at the time accidental social experiment. Using the popular social network management software TweetDeck – I was posting status updates to both Twitter and Facebook at the same time, because I could!

The amount of abuse I got as a result of this was incredible. Although what was interesting was that, all those complaining were using Facebook. Of course looking back I’ve learnt a lot about what to do and not to do on Facebook before you begin upsetting people and get into controversial arguments and so on.

People didn’t seem to understand that they could hide my updates or even delete me as a ‘Friend’ (Oh, there’s a thought!!) I believe this shows the mentality, or ignorance of many of the Facebook lot I had added.

They would be happy to fill the ‘wall’ with pointless quizzes, and updates from apps they’ve installed (I hate the damn things…) but would get annoyed at short, and sweet, updates from someone else… in my mind completely ignorant but that is, I find, what a lot of people are like on Facebook.

Heading back over to Twitter, which I know was designed to be updated frequently from many locations…. but I find the people that use it ‘cooler’ and ‘friendlier’ in that sense as well?

Or is it just me on this one ha

Heroes

I have big respect for the likes of Evan Williams and Tom Anderson, people who thought of something that hadn’t been done yet, and made names for themselves by creating a phenomenon – something that took the World with storm and is now something of a trend, it’s cool to have Twitter, and for the people that really care, MySpace is still the best social networking site.

I look up to them – and in my mind think they are my true hereos. People that had a great idea and made it happen. Something that I’m very much inspired by, to continue Death Cap Records and make a name for myself. To run my own company, and to be successful.

I will power on, and not succumb or be put off by criticism but make improvements and always continue to better myself.
