Formpsring.me Update – Terms of Service update July 29th 2010!

In a follow up to my previous post dated March 2nd, 2010 – I thought I’d post this.

Under the Basic Principles for the site I noticed these (the first one may have been there before):

  • You must be 13 years or older to use the Site and Services. (not sure whether this was there before but it stood out this time)
  • Receiving anonymous questions via the Site and Services is entirely your choice. If you wish to opt out of receiving anonymous questions via your Formspring account, update your “Privacy Settings” here and select the option “Don’t Allow Anonymous Questions.”
  • You may not use the Formspring Site or Services to abuse, harass, threaten, impersonate or intimidate anyone.  If you become aware that a user is engaging in prohibited activity you may report such activity via our Support Area available here.

And if anyone wonders why their account has been deleted without it may be because they have been breaking the Terms!

I still think the reason behind the site is mad – but also realise that a large number of people are regularly breaking the Terms of Service.

I beg anyone who receives abusive questions to report them straight away! There is no need to tolerate it.

Better off, I beg that you don’t use the site at all.

Cheers

Formspring.me? Say No!

Send and receive anonymous questions, and learn more about people you find interesting by following their answers.

People who used MySpace previously will recognise the Formspring-style system.

In theory it sounds fun, and seems like a good idea but when looked at in some more detail the whole idea seems rather dubious.

Would you take candy from a stranger in real life? Would you answer a question asked by a complete and utter stranger?

What most people don’t realise is that this site is a wonderful gateway to the paedophile in today’s society. I believe common sense has gone out the window when most people use this site; especially with girls!

I want to ridicule the owner/owners of this site for making it so simple to link the account in with Facebook and Twitter and for people under the age of 18 to use this site.

Disgraceful!

Update 1: After having looked at the T&C’s of Formspring.me (http://www.formspring.me/site/terms) they make it very clear that they are definitely not responsible or liable for anything that is asked or actioned by the user.

By using the formspring.me service you agree to be bound by the following Terms and Conditions. formspring.me reserves the right to change these Terms and Conditions at any time without notice, and your continued use of formspring.me constitutes your consent to such changes.

Update 2: I forgot to mention, that so many people use this site to give them the opportunity to hide behind a mask, a hidden identity to bring down the morale of so many users.

I have found on several occasions that people are so frightened to speak to you in person or to even call you and are cowardly enough to use services such as Formspring.me to upset and hurt.
