Another night, another hotel – Hitchin Priory!

We were in town to attend Hertfordshire Metalfest and needed somewhere to stay the night.

I’d found a double-room available for £65 on LateRooms.com the night before so quickly booked it before it went!

Nice, comfortable, rooms… with enough facilities and most importantly a shower with hot water, the best bath towels and a comfy bed. TV not necessary but was good to have a few drinks and watch the tennis before heading out!

The breakfast was included in the price and was recommended also, very good.

It gets a thumbs up from me! Look at the Sun Hotel first though, as this ones a bit pricy if you catch it at the wrong time.

MG Progress Update 4 – A new stereo (earlier than planned!)

Howdy, so yes things are coming on well. I was hit by a stroke of luck with this one really. I had received some vouchers from Bedford College to spend in shops around Bedford – all part of the Bedford BID scheme.
This, I thought, was quite generous!

What was even better was that Argos were one of the shops listed where I could spend the vouchers at so naturally I had a quick look through their catalogue to make sure that they did car stereos – which they did!

I’d already got a Kenwood unit in the car, which I was pleased with, so thought I’d go down that route again. I picked up a Kenwood KDC-415UR CD/Radio/USB/Aux unit mainly because it was the most expensive I could get with £100 of vouchers and secondly because it seemed like the best I could get for the money that would let me plug my iPod in.

It also came with a set of free speakers – but the factory fitted ones seem pretty awesome for now!

Review: Armageddon: The Battle for Germany 1944-45

Armageddon: The Battle for Germany 1944-45Armageddon: The Battle for Germany 1944-45 by Max Hastings

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is probably one of the longest, and ultimately best history books, that I have ever read. It wasn’t for the faint hearted – there is so much information packed into each page that at times it did make it rather tiring to read – needless to say the text size was rather small – so unless you’re interested in the subject or know someone who is I wouldn’t recommend it…

Personally though – for any historians or warfare enthusiasts – this is well worth checking out!
